Swedish Classes by Signe Fluegel

Signe Fluegel-Svensson
Swedish Language Class Instructor

Signe Fluegel-Svensson became the Swedish class instructor at Gammelgården in the fall of 2008. She will again teach classes in both the spring and fall sessions this year.

Signe was born in Blekinge, Sweden. Her education included teacher training at the University of Vaxjo in Smaland and taught elementary school in Blekinge. She was also involved in a folk dance group and as a YWCA scout leader.

Signe came to the United States as a participant in seminars in Cleveland and in Decorah, Iowa. While studying at Luther she met and later married Paul Fluegel. They currently reside in White Bear Lake.

She has continued her education by obtaining a bachelor degree from Mankato University and a Masters Degree in Education from the University of St. Thomas. She has taught in several schools.

Signe has been active in many Swedish cultural and educational activities and organizations, such as SVEA, American Swedish Institute, Concordia College Swedish Language Camp ( Sjolunden), the singing group Cloudberries.

We are pleased to have such a versatile and knowledgeable teacher come to Gammelgården!
