Children's Programs

Gammelgården Museum LOVES to have children come onsite, visit, observe, ask questions and learn. We DO NOT charge for children under 12 for general tours. We offer several different programs for children…including a full week of Swedish immersion day camp (Leka I Byn), the 2 day Comin' to Amerika where children "play immigrant", several special event/focus/seasonal programs like Sausage making or Christmas crafts. You can read about each of these with detailed information and registration forms.

Comin' to Amerika! Children's Tour
July 15, 17, August 5, 7, 2008
By reservation ONLY
Program for children who have completed kindergarten through 6th grade. Join other young people to experience what it would have been like to be an immigrant "Comin' To Amerika" in the 1800's. It will be a fun filled day with challenging activities to expand the imagination. Everyone will work together as a "family" to succeed in a new land. All participants are asked to dress for the day as an immigrant. This will help the participant to pretend and to better understand what it may have been like to be in a new country as a young person.

Swedish Immersion Day Camp (Leka I Byn)
Day Camp Dates: August 12-14
Where children "play immigrant"... visit, observe, ask questions and learn.

Several of our programs are underwritten by gifts and grants to keep the cost minimal…our policy is to keep the children's programs VERY affordable so the children can learn the delight of their heritage and history.

Want to create a memorable birthday party, home school experience, class trip or scout troop trip? We are pleased to work with you. Please contact Lynne Blomstrand Moratzka..
